According to notices sent to affected individuals:
- An unauthorized third party gained access to an employee’s Microsoft 365 account.
- After detecting the intrusion, Kiewit launched an investigation, retained a third-party forensic firm, and notified law enforcement.
- Kiewit forced a password reset and disabled the affected email account.
- Kiewit completed its review of who was affected on or about July 24, 2026.
- Kiewit reported the incident to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation on August 21, 2026, and has been notifying affected individuals.
What Information Was Exposed
The information involved varied by individual. For affected employees and contractors, it may have included:
- Full name
- Address
- Date of birth
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number or other government-issued ID
- Health information provided in connection with employment
